For the purposes of introducing the aims and objectives of the Institute to the larger sections of our society and working for their realization, publication of a journal specialising in the Qur’anic Studies was given priority in its programme. In July 1985 the journal was launched in Urdu with the name of Shashmahi Majallah Ulum al-Qur’an (Bi-annual Journal of Qur’anic Sciences). By the grace of Almighty Allah it has been in continuous circulation since then and till now (1985-2024) thirty Nine volumes have been published. It consists of 160 pages and specialisation in the Qur’anic Studies is its distinctive feature. The entire journal is devoted to the Qur’anic Studies and from editorial to newsletter every section of the journal deals with some aspect of the Qur’anics. This includes study and analysis of social, economic or some other aspect of human activity in the light of the teachings of the Qur’an and offering solutions for them; introducing some of the old or new exegetes (Mufassirun) and analysing their works and methodology of their exegeses; introducing and reviewing new literature appearing in the field of Qur’anics; bibliography of articles related to Qur’anics that appeared in old and new journals in various languages particularly Urdu, Arabic and English. It also contains a news section that covers news related to Qur’an in any way and the developments taking place in the area of Qur’anic Studies including seminars and conferences on the themes connected with the Qur’anic Studies. It strives to maintain highest standard of modern research and discussions are conducted in purely academic and objective manner scrupulously avoiding sectarian bias and other such considerations. A distinctive feature of the journal is the English abstract of the articles given at the end. This brief section provides an interface of the journal with the English knowing world. It is basically through this means that the journal as well as the Institute is getting to be known outside Urdu speaking world. With these distinctive features the journal is in circulation now for almost three decades and it is trying to reach out to ever-increasing audience and take to them the eternal message of the Holy Book. It is gratifying to note that it has succeeded in creating a place for itself among the journals being published in the area. At present it is being published in Urdu. We fervently hope to be able in near future to publish its English version as well. May Almighty Allah help us in achieving and realizing these aims and objectives in a better way and serving His Book and taking its message to every nook and corner of the globe. Amin.
